"As a cis, straight, white male, I am aware of the benefits afforded to me as an ally. It is important that I utilize these privileges, to the best of my ability, to foster a more inclusive, equitable and safe Iron Range for all."

“I grew up during a time when gays were so closeted we didn’t even tell ourselves wewere gay. As acceptance for the gay community began to grow, one-by-one my friendsand I came out to each other and discovered that the majority of us in my core group ofhigh school friends are gay – that was a huge bond that drew us together. I have seen alot of positive changes in attitudes toward the LGBTQIA community but still recognizethere is much work to do in order to reach full acceptance and I plan to be part of the change.”
Tyler Nesset has lived on the Iron Range most of his life minus a few years in the metro region. Tyler grew up in rural Bovey and went to Greenway in his earlier years before eventually calling the East Range home. He is excited to continue to dig deep into the community of the Iron Range and help others find acceptance and community regardless of how they see themselves.
Tyler spends his free time working a food truck and Christmas lighting business with his partner Dylon who also resides on the Iron Range. Four wheeling, kayaking and being out in nature also rank high on his list of fun. Can't forget cuddling on the couch with his golden retriever Louie binge watching 'Below Deck'.
"I want to help grow the community support of the Pride organization and how it can be a beacon of hope for those in the local community."
"42 years of being in the community, born and raised with many members in my family, being a strong advocate and member. I am an artist and community leader. My connections from working with the Lyric Center and my life long presence and experience in the world are great for reach outs, planning and more. My passion to see the area have a thriving LGBTQ+ community is lifelong and I am so proud and excited to see it happening."
"Growing up on the Iron Range, there was a definite discrimination and lack of representation for the LGBTQ+ community. I spent the majority of my time from 1998-2020 in Minneapolis, where we have one of the greatest prides in America. Being back up here and seeing the change and communities safety and presence grow, I want to be a part of that as it is crucial and I miss having access to a strong LGBTQ+ community. "
